Paul reminded Timothy and us that God has given us a spirit of power, love and of wise discretion. Thus, we have heart. Our spirit is built up. The eyes of our heart see God’s hand in our lives, now and for eternity. We have faith in God. We fear (reverence), love and trust in God above all things. For God has created us in Messiah Jesus and we are new creatures in Messiah Jesus. We don’t rely on the power of our own human reason and strength. Rather, we dig into the new creature spirit God has given us. He pours his love into our hearts. Thus, we love God and one another. He has poured out His Spirit, the Holy Spirit, on our flesh and helps us mature. “until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.” Ephesians 4:13 ISV God gives us wisdom from above. Thus we have wise discretion, a sound mind. That is our faith.
For which cause I remind thee to stir up the gift of God that is in thee through the putting on of my hands, for God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind; therefore thou mayest not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner, but do thou suffer evil along with the good news according to the power of God, who did save us, and did call with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace, that was given to us in Christ Jesus, before the times of the ages, and was made manifest now through the manifestation of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who indeed did abolish death, and did enlighten life and immortality through the good news, to which I was placed a preacher and an apostle, and a teacher of nations,” 2 Timothy 1:6-11 YLT
Let’s pray Paul’s prayer for one another.
We do pray always for you, that our God may count you worthy of the calling, and may fulfill all the good pleasure of goodness, and the work of the faith in power, that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God and (the) Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Thessalonians 1:11-12 YLT
