Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. John 14:13
You did not choose Me but I chose you, and appointed you that you would go and bear fruit, and that your fruit would remain, so that whatever you ask of the Father in My name He may give to you. John 15:16
In that day you will not question Me about anything. Truly, truly, I say to you, if you ask the Father for anything in My name, He will give it to you.
In that day you will ask me no questions. Most certainly I tell you, whatever you may ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you. Until now, you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be made full. I have spoken these things to you in figures of speech. But the time is coming when I will no more speak to you in figures of speech, but will tell you plainly about the Father. In that day you will ask in my name; and I don’t say to you that I will pray to the Father for you, for the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me, and have believed that I came from God. I came from the Father, and have come into the world. Again, I leave the world, and go to the Father. John 16:23-28
Jesus spoke those words to His disciples in the Lord’s Supper setting not long before He was crucified and resurrected.
Asking the Father in Jesus name
Asking the Father in Jesus name means asking in all that He was on earth and is eternally. We can do that because we have put on Christ. That becomes more clear when we consider the fact no prayer in Scripture concludes “in Jesus name. Amen.” When you look up “in Jesus name,” you get no matches. Also, no prayer is addressed to the Holy Spirit.
Looking up “Name of Jesus” in the KJV yields these matches:
