“I pray that you may prosper in all things and be healthy, even as your soul prospers.”
The elder to Gaius the beloved, whom I love in truth. Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be healthy, even as your soul prospers. For I rejoiced greatly when brothers came and testified about your truth, even as you walk in truth. I have no greater joy than this: to hear about my children walking in truth.” 3 John 1:1-4
The soul of Gaius was prospering.
The brothers/brethren had gotten word to John that Gaius walked in truth, indicating his soul was prospering. He had endured and overcome much persecution from a counterfeit Christian in their assembly (3 John 1:5-12).
Gaius had been born of water and the Spirit. The Spirit brought his soul to prosper.
Jesus tells us, we who believe in him have been born of water and the Spirit and we can see, enter and walk in God’s kingdom, for we are spirit.
“Most certainly I tell you, unless one is born of water and Spirit, he can’t enter into God’s Kingdom. That which is born of the flesh is flesh. That which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Don’t marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born anew.’ The wind blows where it wants to, and you hear its sound, but don’t know where it comes from and where it is going. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.” John 3:5-8
People who have not been born again think those heavenly things (John 3:9-12) are foolishness. (1 Cor 1:18).
Since, we have been born again, we are spirit, soul and body. By the Spirit, our spirit leads our soul to prosper.
Our soul is the seat of our human perception. Our body, mind and emotions give us will. The Spirit pours God’s love into our heart and we respond by following Messiah Jesus and walk in truth. Messiah Jesus is the way, the truth and the life.
Yeshua therefore said to those Judeans who had believed him, “If you remain in my word, then you are truly my disciples. You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.” John 8:31-32
May the God of peace himself sanctify you completely. May your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah.
1 Thessalonians 5:13b-24 Be at peace among yourselves. 14 We exhort you, brothers: Admonish the disorderly; encourage the faint-hearted; support the weak; be patient toward all. 15 See that no one returns evil for evil to anyone, but always follow after that which is good for one another and for all.
16 Always rejoice. 17 Pray without ceasing. 18 In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Messiah Yeshua toward you. 19 Don’t quench the Spirit. 20 Don’t despise prophecies. 21 Test all things, and hold firmly that which is good. 22 Abstain from every form of evil.
23 May the God of peace himself sanctify you completely. May your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah.
24 He who calls you is faithful, who will also do it.
