There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Messiah Yeshua, who don’t walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Messiah Yeshua made me free from the law of sin and of death. Ro 8:1-2
We have life in Christ Jesus because God our Father saved us.
4 But God, being rich in mercy, for his great love with which he loved us, 5 even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Messiah—by grace you have been saved— 6 and raised us up with him, and made us to sit with him in the heavenly places in Messiah Yeshua, 7 that in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Messiah Yeshua; 8 for by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, that no one would boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Messiah Yeshua for good works, which God prepared before that we would walk in them. Eph 2:4-10
Our new creature life is hidden in Christ in God.
Therefore if anyone is in Messiah, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new. But all things are of God, who reconciled us to himself through Yeshua the Messiah, and gave to us the ministry of reconciliation; namely, that God was in Messiah reconciling the world to himself, not reckoning to them their trespasses, and having committed to us the word of reconciliation. 2 Cor 5:17-19
If then you were raised together with Messiah, seek the things that are above, where Messiah is, seated on the right hand of God. Set your mind on the things that are above, not on the things that are on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Messiah in God. When Messiah, our life, is revealed, then you will also be revealed with him in glory. Col 3:1-4
To be in Christ means to be united with Him by His Spirit.
He is the Vine, we are the branches (Jn 15:1-6).
To all the holy ones in Messiah Yeshua who are at Philippi, with the overseers and servants: Php 1:1
7 However, I consider those things that were gain to me as a loss for Messiah. 8 Yes most certainly, and I count all things to be a loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Messiah Yeshua, my Lord, for whom I suffered the loss of all things, and count them nothing but refuse, that I may gain Messiah 9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own, that which is of the law, but that which is through faith in Messiah, the righteousness which is from God by faith, 10 that I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, becoming conformed to his death, 11 if by any means I may attain to the resurrection from the dead. 12 Not that I have already obtained, or am already made perfect; but I press on, that I may take hold of that for which also I was taken hold of by Messiah Yeshua. Php 3:7-12
Now he who establishes us with you in Messiah and anointed us is God, who also sealed us, and gave us the down payment of the Spirit in our hearts. 2 Cor 1:21-22 ISV
Those God inspired Words of God help us get what Paul says in Romans 8.
In chapter 7, Paul tells us:
21So I find this to be a principle: when I want to do what is good, evil is right there with me. 22For I delight in the Law of God in my inner being, 23but I see in my body a different principle waging war with the Law in my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin that exists in my body. 24What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is infected by death? 25Thank God through Jesus the Messiah, our Lord, because with my mind I myself can serve the Law of God, even while with my human nature I serve the law of sin. Ro 7:21-25 ISV
Then Paul contrasts the law of sin and death with the Spirit’s law of life in Christ Jesus.
Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in union with the Messiah Jesus. For the Spirit’s law of life in the Messiah Jesus has set me free from the Law of sin and death. Romans 8:1-2 ISV
In the first 17 verses of Romans 8, he explains. The Spirit of life in Christ Jesus. You are not in the flesh but in the Spirit. The Spirit of Him who raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you. By the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body. As many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are children of God. We are children of God and heirs of God. Our inheritance stored up for us in heaven (1Pe 1:4) is eternal life (Mt 2:34), God with us in the new heaven and new earth.
For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus us free from the law of sin and of death.
1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Messiah Yeshua, who don’t walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Messiah Yeshua made me free from the law of sin and of death. 3 For what the law couldn’t do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God did, sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh; 4 that the ordinance of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
You are not in the flesh but in the Spirit
5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. 6 For the mind of the flesh is death, but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace; 7 because the mind of the flesh is hostile toward God; for it is not subject to God’s Torah, neither indeed can it be. 8 Those who are in the flesh can’t please God. 9 But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if it is so that the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if any man doesn’t have the Spirit of Messiah, he is not his. Cf: Gal 5:22-23
The Spirit of Him who raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you
10 If Messiah is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the spirit is alive because of righteousness. 11 But if the Spirit of him who raised up Yeshua from the dead dwells in you, he who raised up Messiah Yeshua from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.
By the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body
12 So then, brothers [and sisters], we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. 13 For if you live after the flesh, you must die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.
As many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are children of God
14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are children of God. 15 For you didn’t receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry, “Abba!† Father!”
We are children of God and heirs of God
16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God; 17 and if children, then heirs: heirs of God and joint heirs with Messiah, if indeed we suffer with him, that we may also be glorified with him. Ro 8:1-17
Jesus came that we may have life, and may have it abundantly.
7 Yeshua therefore said to them again, “Most certainly, I tell you, I am the sheep’s door. 8 All who came before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep didn’t listen to them. 9 I am the door. If anyone enters in by me, he will be saved, and will go in and go out, and will find pasture. 10 The thief only comes to steal, kill, and destroy. I came that they may have life, and may have it abundantly. 11 I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. Jn 10:7-11
