Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you. Php 4:8-9
We certainly have many true whatsoever things to think on.
On Maundy Thursday, Jesus celebrated the Passover with His disciples and turned it into the prophetic sign of the new covenant we know as the Lord’s Supper.
On Good Friday, Jesus suffered much abuse for us.. He was stricken smitten and afflicted in our behalf and by his stripes we are healed. Then Jesus was taken to the cross where He shed His blood in our behalf, laying down His life for us. On Easter Sunday, God raised Him from the dead. His resurrection assures us of the resurrection we await.
Jesus walked this earth for 40 days, proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom.
Then, He ascended into heaven and was seated at the right hand of God our Father in heaven.
There, at the throne of grace in the heavenly Jerusalem, Jesus intercedes for us as our High Priest. He also reigns as king of the kingdom by the Spirit. He must reign until the last enemy, death, is conquered.
Through those works, Jesus revealed and brought us our salvation as Paul tells us in the first 14 verses of Ephesians.
PAUL, APOSTLE OF CHRIST JESUS by God’s will, to the people who are holy and faithful in Christ Jesus: May God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ bless you and give you peace
Let us praise/bless the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who in Christ has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in heaven. He has done what in His kindness He planned to do: Before He made the world, He who loved us—appointed us to be made His sons by Jesus Christ. In Him He chose us to be holy and blameless before Him in order to praise the glory of the grace He gave us in His dear Son, who bought us with His blood to forgive our sins and set us free. So He poured out the riches of His grace on us, giving us every kind of wisdom and understanding as He told us the hidden meaning of His will. It was His kindly purpose in Christ to manage everything in heaven and on earth in such a way that when the right time would come it would all be gathered together under Christ as its Head. He who accomplishes everything just as He wants to plan it, long ago appointed us in Christ and chose us according to His purpose that we/Jews, the first to find our hope in Christ, should live to the praise His glory. When you/Gentiles heard the message of the truth, the good news that you were saved, and you believed in Him, you, too, were sealed in Him by the Holy Spirit—whom He promised and who is now the Guarantee of our inheritance—that He might free you to be His people and to be to the praise of His glory.
