God’s wrath comes on unbelievers, for they are hostile toward God. “For the mind of the flesh is death, but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace; because the mind of the flesh is hostile toward God, for it is not subject to God’s Torah, neither indeed can it be. Those who are in the flesh can’t please God.” Romans 8:6-8
God’s wrath is stirred up against heathens and they think He can’t touch their lives. God can and does touch their lives.
Heathens don’t even recognize how God’s wrath touches their own lives. They think they can get away with living according to their carnal, human, nature and practice seven things God hates with impunity.
16 There are six things which the LORD hates; yes, seven which are an abomination to him:
17 arrogant eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, 18 a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are swift in running to mischief, 19 a false witness who utters lies, and he who sows discord among brothers. Proverb 6:16-19
We who believe in the God of the Bible and follow Messiah Jesus are continuously persecuted by heathens who practice those things against us and ironically imbibe in the wrath of God against them with one another.
The wrath of God against ungodliness and unrighteousness
ROMANS 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hinder the truth in unrighteousness; 19because that which is known of God is manifest in them; for God manifested it unto them. 20For the invisible things of him since the creation of the world are clearly seen, being perceived through the things that are made, even his everlasting power and divinity; that they may be without excuse: 21because that, knowing God, they glorified him not as God, neither gave thanks; but became vain in their reasoning’s, and their senseless heart was darkened. 22Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, 23and changed the glory of the incorruptible God for the likeness of an image of corruptible man, and of birds, and four-footed beasts, and creeping things.
24Wherefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts unto uncleanness, that their bodies should be dishonored among themselves: 25for that they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
26For this cause God gave them up unto vile/degrading passions: for their women changed the natural use into that which is against nature: 27and likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another, men with men working unseemliness, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was due.
28And even as they refused to have God in their knowledge, God gave them up unto a reprobate/depraved mind, to do those things which are not fitting; 29being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malignity; whisperers, 30backbiters, hateful to God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31without understanding, covenant-breakers, without natural affection, unmerciful: 32who, knowing the ordinance of God, that they that practice such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but also consent with them that practice them. Romans 1:18-32 ASV
That’s the culture those who are hostile toward God live in today.
In the wrath to come (1 Thes 1:10), those who have done evil will be brought to the resurrection of judgment.
24 “Most certainly I tell you, he who hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life, and doesn’t come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life. 25 Most certainly I tell you, the hour comes, and now is, when the dead will hear the Son of God’s voice; and those who hear will live. 26 For as the Father has life in himself, even so he gave to the Son also to have life in himself. 27 He also gave him authority to execute judgment, because he is a son of man. 28 Don’t marvel at this, for the hour comes in which all who are in the tombs will hear his voice 29 and will come out; those who have done good, to the resurrection of life; and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of judgment. 30 I can of myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and my judgment is righteous, because I don’t seek my own will, but the will of my Father who sent me.” John 5:24-30
Those who are found in the resurrection of judgment will endure the furnace of fire eternally.
36 “Then Yeshua sent the multitudes away, and went into the house. His disciples came to him, saying, “Explain to us the parable of the darnel weeds* (Mt 13:24-29) of the field.”
“37 He answered them, “He who sows the good seed is the Son of Man, 38 the field is the world, the good seeds are the children of the Kingdom, and the darnel weeds are the children of the evil one. 39 The enemy who sowed them is the devil. The harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are angels. 40 As therefore the darnel weeds are gathered up and burned with fire; so will it be at the end of this age. 41 The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will gather out of his Kingdom all things that cause stumbling and those who do iniquity, 42 and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. 43 Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the Kingdom of their Father. He who has ears to hear, let him hear.” Matthew 13:36-43
Anyone who scandalizes, offends or causes a little one who believes in Messiah Jesus, especially little children, to stumble or stumbles himself/herself into unbelief will be cast into hell eternally.
42 “Whoever will cause one of these little ones who believe in me to stumble, it would be better for him if he were thrown into the sea with a millstone hung around his neck. 43 If your hand causes you to stumble, cut it off. It is better for you to enter into life maimed, rather than having your two hands to go into Gehinnom (Hell), into the unquenchable fire, 44 ‘where their worm doesn’t die, and the fire is not quenched.’ 45 If your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off. It is better for you to enter into life lame, rather than having your two feet to be cast into Gehinnom (hell), into the fire that will never be quenched— 46 ‘where their worm doesn’t die, and the fire is not quenched.’ 47 If your eye causes you to stumble, throw it out. It is better for you to enter into God’s Kingdom with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into the Gehinnom (hell) of fire, 48 ‘where their worm doesn’t die, and the fire is not quenched.’ 49 For everyone will be salted with fire, and every sacrifice will be seasoned with salt. 50 Salt is good, but if the salt has lost its saltiness, with what will you season it? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another.” Mark 9:42-50 (Isaiah 66:24)
It is ironic that Pagans say, “Judge not. Yet, they have already been judged and sentenced unless they repent and believe. “he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” John 3:18 NASB
“8 But for the cowardly, unbelieving, sinners,* abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers,† idolaters, and all liars, their part is in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.” Revelations 21:8 ISV
All who trust in Messiah Jesus are overcomers. “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!”
