We know our Father in heaven has given us the Holy Spirit because we believe in Jesus our Messiah, Savior and King (John 3).
Just as He planned, God our Father sealed us in Himself by the Holy Spirit He promised and who is now the Guarantee of our inheritance. By His grace, we are moved by God’s Spirit, to share/koinonia Messiah’s inheritance with Him. Thus, He has freed us to be His people and be to the praise of His glory (Eph 1:14; 2 Thes 1:11-12; 1 Peter 2:9).
By His Spirit, God in Messiah Jesus shares His noble life with us, helping us share in enduring one another relationships. God our Father lavishes these riches of His grace upon us so we might relate as His holy and blameless children accepted in the Beloved. He has gathered us together in one and given us all that is in the Messiah (Eph 1:3-10).
As we yield to the Spirit, we do good works and walk in them. This is our God ordained, noble, lifestyle (Eph 2:10; Eph 4:1-16). As we walk worthy of it, we fulfill our noble mission to be to the praise of God’s glory.
This truth is meant to dawn on and work in our hearts by the unction, the life quickening, of God’s Spirit.
In his letter to the Ephesians, Paul sums up God’s plan for us to relate in harmony and thus be to the praise of His glory. Paul’s prayer, in his proclamation of the gospel of the kingdom to the Ephesians, conveys his goal.
I ask the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, to give you His Spirit to make you wise and reveal the truth to you as you learn to know Him better and to enlighten the eyes of your minds so that you know the hope He called you to, the riches of the glory of the inheritance He gives to His holy people, and the vast resources of His power working in us who believe. Eph 1:17-19a
The vast resources of God’s power are working in us who believe to empower us to live in His kingdom that is and is to come. God our Father has given the earnest of our inheritance, the Holy Spirit, who is with us and in us (Eph 1:13; Eph 4:30; Acts 2:4). The Spirit of the Messiah nurtures the flow of God’s kingdom and power and glory in our hearts and minds and lives (Ro 8; Ro 14).
As the Spirit helps us get to know Messiah Jesus better, we become more and more like Him. By sharing His noble life with us, He motivates us to spend our lives being useful and productive in God’s service. We often ignore or otherwise quench His promptings, but they keep coming up from deep within from the Holy Spirit to our spirit. As we yield to the Spirit, we do good works and walk in them.
This is our God ordained, noble, lifestyle (Eph 2:10; Eph 4:1-16). As we walk worthy of it, we fulfill our noble mission to be to the praise of God’s glory.
Now, may the God of peace and harmony set you apart, making you completely holy. And may your entire being—spirit, soul, and body—be kept completely flawless in the appearing of our Lord Jesus, the Anointed One. The one who calls you by name is trustworthy and will thoroughly complete his work in you. 2 Th 5:23-24
